NFL picks and predictions, Week 8: Chargers vs. Browns

Christopher Hanewinckel-US PRESSWIRE

Despite being just 3-3 on the year, Norv Turner's Chargers will enter Week 8 as a heavy favorite over the hometown Cleveland Browns, according to a majority of experts.

Seeking to get back in the win column following their bye week, the Denver Broncos will travel to Cleveland this Sunday for an afternoon showdown with a woeful Browns team.

With the 1-6 Browns likely to hit the field without star tailback Trent Richardson as he nurses a rib injury, San Diego will enter the weekend as an overwhelming favorite among experts across the internet. Among the many unwilling to buy into a midseason resurgence from Browns head coach Pat Shurmur's team at the moment, all three names on Yahoo! Sports' panel opted to roll with Norv Turner's Chargers this weekend on the road.

In addition, all eight members of CBSSports.com's expert panel also selected the Chargers to pull out the win, as only two men, Clark Judge and Will Brinson, are under the belief that the game will be decided by its 3.5-point spread.

In a near-unanimous sweep, nine of the 10 experts over at ESPN.com kept the trend going with the selection of San Diego to win. Aside from former coach Mike Ditka's bold prediction that the Browns will defend their home turf and pick up their second victory of the season, virtually every single expert on the web agrees that the Chargers have no business losing this game.
