Week 8 NFL odds: Buccaneers vs. Vikings

Stay connected with SB Nation

Jamie Squire

The Minnesota Vikings enter Week 8 as 6.5-point favorites over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Minnesota Vikings (5-2) are home favorites in Week 8, as the Vikings are set to play host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4) on Thursday Night Football.

Minnesota originally opened as 5.5 favorites, but the line shifted to 6.5 points as the week progressed. So far in 2012, the Vikings are a perfect 4-0 at home, while the Buccaneers are 0-2 on the road.

Tampa Bay is coming off of a 35-28 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. Minnesota, meanwhile, defeated the Arizona Cardinals at home in Week 7, winning, 21-14.

Though the Buccaneers are just 2-4 this season, Tampa Bay is 4-2 against the spread -- and a perfect 2-0 against the spread on the road.

Minnesota, meanwhile, is 3-3-1 against the spread this year, and 2-1-1 at home against the spread.

The over/under for the game has been set at 42.5 points. Though the Vikings have one of the NFL's best backs in Adrian Peterson, the Vikings typically end up under the over/under, and have gone under in five of their last six contests.
