Week 8 NFL odds: Dolphins vs. Jets

Marc Serota

The New York Jets open as slight favorites when they welcome the rival Miami Dolphins to town on Sunday.

In Week 3, the New York Jets defeated the Miami Dolphins 23-20 in overtime; as the rivals prepare for a Week 8 rematch the Jets open as three-point-favorites at home. Since opening the line has moved slightly in the Dolphins favor and now Miami is only getting either one or two-and-a-half points depending upon the sportsbook. The two teams have split their games in both of the past two seasons.

The Dolphins have won back-to-back games and are coming off a bye week as they travel to New York. Miami lost against the spread in their last contest, as they failed to cover five-and-a-half points in their 17-14 victory over the St. Louis Rams. Miami is 3-3 against the spread on the season.

The Jets lost in overtime last week to the New England Patriots, 29-26, but covered as they were 11.5-points-underdogs. The cover moves the Jets up to 5-2 against the spread this season.

The total for the game opened at 39.5 points but has since moved up to 41 points at most sportsbooks.
