The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Redskins are set for another grinding matchup, and the latest odds have the Steelers as 4.5-point favorites.

The Pittsburgh Steelers face the Washington Redskins in Week 8, and the latest odds have the Steelers as 4.5-point favorites. The Steelers have won four straight against the Redskins, dating back to 1997, but they face a new Redskins team captained by Robert Griffin III.

The total in the game is 47.5 points. Ben Roethlisberger and the Steeler offense are averaging 23.3 points per game, and RGIII and the Redskins are nearly a full touchdown ahead at 28.7 points per game, but OddsShark points out that four of the last five games between the teams have gone under the total. 47.5 points is a mark the Redskins have come under twice this season, while the Steelers have failed to reach that total in half of their games.

This year may differ from others in a key way, namely that Pittsburgh's traditionally strong defense finds itself ranked in the middle of the league, giving up an average of 22 points per game, and their struggles may continue. Troy Polamalu did not practice on Wednesday. The Redskins defense is fifth-worst in the NFL in points allowed at 28.6 per game.
