Chicago will host Carolina favored by more than a touchdown.
The Chicago Bears will welcome the Carolina Panthers to Soldier Field on Sunday as 9.5-point favorites over Cam Newton and company. That line represents the second-greatest spread in the NFL in Week 8 (behind the Green Bay Packers, who are 16.5-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars). The line owes itself to the opposite directions that the two teams are currently travelling in.
Chicago has been dominant for most of the season and is coming off a 13-7 victory over the Detroit Lions, a proverbial game that wasn't as close as the score appears. Carolina, meanwhile, is just 1-5 on the season and features a disappointing, floundering offense.
The over/under for the game is 43 points, an average line, but one that puts faith in either the Bears or Panthers offense to outperform its season stats to date. The two teams' combined points per game only comes out to 34 points, and the Bears feature one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Sunday's game will kick off at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
