NFL lines and odds Week 8: 49ers vs. Cardinals

Brian Bahr

The 49ers opened as 4-point favorites against the Cardinals in a battle for the NFC West lead.

The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals will play for the NFC West lead on Monday Night Football. Despite being on the road, the 49ers opened as a 4-point favorite.

At 5-2, San Francisco leads Arizona by one game in the division. The 49ers have dominated the matchup recently, winning five of their last six games against the Cardinals. According to Odds Shark.com, the 49ers are 7-2-1 against the spread when playing the Cardinals since 2007.

While they opened as a 4-point favorite, the 49ers have moved to a 7-point favorite in some places. Statistically, San Francisco has a major advantage, leading in points per game scored and allowed as well as offensive and defensive yards per game.

The total for Monday's game opened at 37, but recent history shows the under might be the best bet. The total has gone under in four of the 49ers last five games and six of the Cardinals last seven. That trend holds true in the head-to-head matchup as well as the total has gone under in four of the last six meetings.

Arizona is just 1-6 against the spread in the last seven games against the 49ers.
