Second-year defensive end Da'Quan Bowers is expected to play Thursday night against the Vikings.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers activated defensive end Da'Quan Bowers from the physically unable to perform list Thursday, according to NFL.com.

Bowers suffered a torn Achilles tendon in May.

Bowers, 22, is expected to play in Thursday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings. To make room for Bowers on the roster, the Bucs released cornerback LeQuan Lewis.

Bowers was a first-round draft pick in 2011. He started six games last season as a rookie, recording 22 tackles and 1½ sacks.

Lewis, 23, did not appear in a game with the Buccaneers this season. The Bucs picked up Lewis after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 2. He recorded one tackle in three games for the Cowboys.

The Buccaneers head into Thursday night's game with a 2-4 record. After snapping a three-game losing streak against the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks ago, the Bucs lost to the New Orleans Saints, 35-28, last week.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on the NFL Network.
