Week 8 NFL picks: Bears consensus favorite to beat Panthers

David Banks

Chicago is expected to beat Carolina and a struggling Cam Newton.

There isn't much optimism surrounding the Carolina Panthers, as they have an embattled quarterback, a fired general manager and a 1-5 record. With a trip to Chicago to play the 5-1 Bears, few experts believe the Panthers can hang with Lovie Smith's team.

Over at ESPN, all of their experts believe that Panthers will lose their sixth game of the season.

At Yahoo!, its another clean sweep, with all three experts and the site's users going with Chicago.

It's a different story, though, at CBSSports, where experts pick against the spread. The Bears are 7.5-point favorites, and the eight experts are split on who will win. Clark Judge, who leads the CBS pickers, went with the Bears in the game.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the Bears are the pick by most. They enter Sunday's game with a 5-1 record, second-best in the NFC behind the undefeated Atlanta Falcons.
