The Washington Redskins' ugly 27-12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers left Redskins fans with a bad taste in their mouth.
The Washington Redskins were mauled by the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field on Sunday, losing 27-12 and falling to 3-5 on the season. The Redskins could not get anything going offensively against a tough Steelers defense, while their own defense was torched by Ben Roethlisberger.
Naturally, Kevin Ewoldt of SB Nation's Redskins blog Hogs Haven was not pleased with the performance. Ewoldt was especially disgusted with the effort of the Redskins' wide receivers:
Redskins had 10 drops. I mean, a co-ed Pop Warner team only averages 8 drops.
Also not getting any love was a defense that "couldn't stop a fruit fly." Roethlisberger picked Washington apart to the tune of 222 yards and three touchdowns. Pittsburgh also had a ton of success on the ground, as Jonathan Dwyer rushed for 107 yards on just 17 carries.
Needless to say, Washington laid an egg. The Redskins will face an easier opponent in Week 9 when they host the 1-6 Carolina Panthers. But if the Redskins play against the Panthers like they did on Sunday, they may be in for a rough day.
