NFL Week 9 computer picks: Odds Shark prediction engine heats up

Rob Carr

The prediction program is heating up and the trend suggest Week 9 will be a dominant week for the Odds Shark NFL scores picker. And unlike last week, favorites are predicted to rule the roost.

Fortunately, computer prediction software can't laugh at other computer prediction software.

If they could, lots of snickers would have been directed at the OddsShark.com NFL scores tool in Week 6-7. But the laughing hushed in Week 8 with an 8-5 ATS run and the promise of better things to come.

"In years past, we did not even start using this program until Week 9, but we fired it up early with lousy results," said Jack Randall of OddsShark.com, the NFL lines provider to SBNation. "Like some teams, it has always been a second-half performer."

The machine picked three outright winners among underdogs a week ago, as the Dolphins, Falcons and Colts all won straight up.

This week, the computer seems to be in love with favorites, picking them to cover the spread in 11 of the 14 games. That means the NFL trends will switch from dogs to favorites this weekend.

The machine likes the Dolphins again, picking them to win at Indy and picks against the Eagles again, picking them to lose a tight MNF game in New Orleans.

The biggest favorites (Houston and Green Bay both at -11 or greater) will split ATS wins with the Texans succeeding and the Packers failing.

The machine also picks the Chargers to easily cover Thursday night and Atlanta to win easily at home on Sunday Night on NBC.
