Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Robert Griffin III and the Redskins are three-point underdogs as they host the undefeated Falcons in Week 5.
The Atlanta Falcons are one of three teams still undefeated in the NFL, and they open October as road favorites in Week 5 against the Washington Redskins. The Falcons needed a last-minute field goal to beat the Panthers at home, but they're still considered the class of the NFC after one month. The oddsmakers accordingly tab them as field-goal favorites on the road against Robert Griffin III and the Skins.
The game features two of the most exciting offenses and quarterbacks in the league, with Matt Ryan competing against the dynamic rookie RG3. The Redskins QB struggled in his home debut against the Bengals but turned it on again last week in Tampa Bay. The FedEx Field crowd will be in full roar as their new offense goes for the first home win.
Upset-minded Washington will have to find some answers in the secondary, the most glaring weakness on the team through the first four games. The defensive backfield has been hit by preseason suspensions and injuries, and they have given up huge numbers against opposing quarterbacks. Ryan, who's aided on the outside by Julio Jones and Roddy White, enters the game as the league's top-rated passer. The oddsmakers predict a high-scoring affair, setting the over/under at 50.
