The Houston Texans come to New York on Monday night to take on the Jets as significant favorites.
The New York Jets opened as 4½-point underdogs against the Houston Texans this week. Since then, the opening line has shifted toward Houston, and the Texans are now favored by between 7½ and 9 points, depending on the sports book.
The Texans are an impressive 4-0 against the spread this season, having beat their opponents by an average of 17.5 points per game, and face a Jets team coming of a huge 34-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. New York is 2-2 against the spread, losing both games in which they were the underdog.
The Jets offense has been struggling this season and the recent loss of wide receiver Santonio Holmes won't make things any easier on them, facing off against the top defense in the league in points allowed, also third in yards allowed.
The total for the game is set at 41 points, and although the Texans have the league's top scoring defense, they also have the second-highest scoring offense at 31½ points per game. The two face off on Monday Oct. 8 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
