John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Eyeing the chance to take their first lead in regulation since January 1st, Matt Cassel literally gave up that opportunity.
The Kansas City Chiefs haven't had a lead in regulation since they led the Denver Broncos for most of their week 17 game of last season and they were just a yard away from surprisingly going ahead of the Ravens in a 3-3 tie. Then Matt Cassel happened.
After a Ravens penalty put the ball on the 1-yard line with 1st-and-Goal to go, Cassel tried to dive ahead for the go-ahead touchdown but he couldn't even do that right.
Ed Reed recovered and took it out for 12 yards.
The Chiefs have ran the ball 38 times today so far compared to just nine pass attempts, so you know that head coach Romeo Crennel was not happy about ever having to put the ball in Cassel's hands. Maybe we should just expect direct snaps to Jamaal Charles for the rest of the game.
