Mary Langenfeld-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Packers will be without Cedric Benson for a while after it was determined he suffered a Lisfranc injury.

Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson will be out at least eight weeks after suffering a Lisfranc foot injury on Sunday, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Benson will miss at least eight weeks and could be out for the remainder of the season if surgery is needed. He suffered the injury during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Colts. Benson left the stadium in a walking boot, but initially thought he avoided a Lisfranc injury. Following the game, Benson said he was able to walk on the injury, something most people with a Lisfranc injury are unable to do.

Later tests, however, did reveal a Lisfranc injury and now the Packers will have to find a replacement at running back. The Packers signed Benson in August and he played well at times, rushing for 248 yards on 71 attempts. Green Bay will now likely turn to second-year running back Alex Green. Green has rushed for 57 yards on 11 carries in backup duty this season.
