New England's new cornerback will not play next week against Buffalo.

Newly acquired cornerback Aqib Talib is not eligible to play for the New England Patriots next Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Instead, Talib will be eligible to play starting Sunday, Nov. 18, when the Patriots host the Indianapolis Colts:

Talib is still serving his four-game suspension after failing a drug test in early October when he tested positive for Adderall without a prescription. He did not try to appeal the suspension.

The Patriots acquired Talib in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday. The Patriots also received a seventh-round draft pick, while giving up a fourth rounder.

In four games this season, Talib has 20 tackles and four interceptions.

A first-round draft pick in 2008, Talib has spent the last five seasons with the Buccaneers. In 58 games in the NFL, Talib has 159 tackles and 18 interceptions.
