Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin will miss Sunday's game with a sprained ankle.

The Minnesota Vikings will play without injured wide receiver Percy Harvin in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m., according to Gregg Rosenthal of the NFL Network. Harvin sprained his ankle in last week's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Harvin has been listed as doubtful all week. Rosenthal noted that he was still limping badly on the ankle late in the week.

The Vikings beat the Lions in September, 20-13, and Harvin played a big role in that outcome, returning the opening kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown. Neither of the Vikings' touchdowns in that game were scored by the offense.

Harvin has 62 catches for 677 yards and three touchdowns this season. He's averaging 36 yards per kickoff return.

Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder has struggled in recent weeks, and the team has lost two straight games. Rosenthal reports that, with Harvin out, the team will rely heavily on Adrian Peterson on Sunday. The Lions could move a half-game in front of the Vikings in the NFC North standings with a win.
