Ed Reed injury: Ravens' safety hurts shoulder trying to tackle Raiders' Darrius Heyward-Bey

Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

After bouncing off the former Maryland wide receiver, Ed Reed has a shoulder injury.

Despite getting up there in years, Ed Reed still makes the Ravens' defense go. He is always banged up and playing through injuries, but the older he gets, the harder it is for him to get back up and shake it off after an injury.

Reed is already playing through a bum shoulder, and he may have aggravated the ailment further after trying to make a tackle on Darrius Heyward-Bey of the Oakland Raiders.

Reed led with his shoulder and Heyward-Bey absorbed the contact and did not go down, instead running 55 yards for the score.

Lucky for the Ravens, the score came just a little before halftime, and the Baltimore training staff will have an extended period of time to diagnose the injury. At best, Reed's return has to be considered questionable.
