Carolina fans are looking forward to changes in the coaching staff after the Panthers fell, 36-14, to the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
After jumping ahead 7-0 in the first quarter, the Carolina Panthers fell apart and gave up 29 unanswered points before ultimately losing, 36-14, to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Quarterback Cam Newton had another poor game, throwing a woeful pick-6 in the third quarter that essentially sealed the Panthers' fate.
Carolina is now 2-7 on the season, and fans are getting restless with the current coaching staff. James Dator at SB Nation's Panthers blog Cat Scratch Reader does not envision coach Ron Rivera making it much longer:
Ron Rivera won't make it though 2012. I'll be stunned if anything happens over the next six weeks to save his job, and a slowly dissenting locker room won't help his cause. There's no point gilding the lily -- the Panthers are terrible, inconsistent, lost, and a large reason for this is Ron Rivera not clamping down on his coaching staff.
Rivera has only been the headmaster in Carolina for two years, and the results have not been pretty. The Panthers went 6-10 last year, although with Newton at the helm, they did show some encouraging signs. But this year has been an absolute train wreck, with Newton regressing and plenty of other mishaps happening all the way.
It might be somewhat unfair to can a coach after just two seasons, but these results may warrant it. And with this season a complete failure, it's really the only thing Carolina fans are looking forward to:
The Panthers are terrible. Want an outlook? It will be over in a few more weeks. From there we are guaranteed to see wholesale changes, and that is a wonderful thing.
Carolina faces the red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.
