Aaron Hernandez injury: Patriots tight end expected to sit

Jim Rogash

Aaron Hernandez is expected to miss his sixth game of the season on Sunday.

New England Patriots' tight end Aaron Hernandez is expected to sit out on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, according to Albert Breer. Hernandez is listed is questionable, and has been limited in practice. The third-year tight end has not played since Oct. 21, when he re-injured his ankle against the New York Jets.

If Hernandez does sit out on Sunday, it will be the second week in a row in which he practiced, but did not participate in the team's game. In his four games this year, Hernandez managed 17 receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns.

In place of Hernandez, wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has seen increased targets. He is third on the team, with 480 yards, behind Wes Welker and Rob Gronkowski.

Despite Hernandez's absence, quarterback Tom Brady is on his way to another stellar season. He has the fifth-best QBRating in the NFL, and has thrown just three interceptions in his first nine games.
