Leading up to this week, there were questions of whether Justin Blackmon was going to be an NFL receiver. Having just over 200 receiving yards through ten weeks and showing an inability to separate, the term "bust" was already escaping the lips of analysts; after today, things might be a little different.
With just six receptions, Blackmon has crossed the mythic 200-yard receiving mark. Responsible for 221 of Chad Henne's 331 passing yards, the Houston Texans have no answer for the Jaguars' rookie today. A few minutes ago, Blackmon caught a pass in triple coverage, and shrugged off would-be tacklers en route to a 81-yard touchdown.
Blaine Gabbert left Sunday's game early with an elbow injury, and with Blackmon breaking out with Henne under center, one wonders if this will change Jacksonville's approach entering next week's game. Perhaps this is a case of players taking advantage of a lack of tape, but when you put up this many passing yards on the Texans, it moves the needle.
