Packers vs. Lions: Mason Crosby unreliable in close game

Normally a stalwart, Mason Crosby hasn't looked himself in 2012

Mason Crosby was in a position to put his team over the top, or keep Sunday's game far too close. Thus far it has been the latter, as Crosby missed two field goals that kept the Lions in the game.

The first came in the second quarter, and was forgivable. A 50-yard attempt is difficult for any kicker, but they were in a dome-- so it's less forgivable. The second, a 38-yarder in the forth quarter should be a given for most kickers, if you've seen Crosby kick in 2012, you know there are no givens.

Herein lies the problem: In 2012 the Packers' kicker has been atrocious. Since being drafted in 2007, Crosby has never finished a season worse than a 75 percent rating, and yet through 11 games Mason Crosby is trending for just a 61 percent year, with just eleven field goals in eighteen attempts.

Normally a constant for the Packers, he's now a wild card each week, and that's a problem for Green Bay, particularly if they get to the playoffs.
