Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich injured his ribs against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and will now miss Pittsburgh's next game, according to a report from the Associated Press.
Leftwich reportedly injured his ribs during the first quarter on Sunday, but still played the rest of the game. A report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen said Leftwich fractured two ribs. He played on Sunday in relief of Ben Roethlisberger, who was out with rib and shoulder injuries. Leftwich completed 18 of 39 passes for 201 yards against the Ravens.
The injury appeared to limit Leftwich, as he missed badly on several throws late in the game. He was seen wincing and grabbing his ribs on multiple occasions. Sunday was Leftwich's first start since the 2009 season.
With Leftwich out and Roethlisberger's status still unknown, Charlie Batch is expected to start for Pittsburgh on Sunday when the Steelers face the Cleveland Browns. It will be Batch's first start since the 2011 season.
