They're that bad.
Coming into Week 9 the Chiefs were the worst team in the NFL. They needed a win to move to 2-6 on the season and avoid the top spot in the current draft order but instead they crapped the bed in a 31-13 loss to the Chargers.
The Chiefs offense turned it over four times and two of them led to touchdowns. They had 39 yards rushing from their best player. There was also the realization that as bad as Matt Cassel is, he's actually better than Brady Quinn, who is currently the starting quarterback.
So, tough times for Chiefs fans.
Via Elias- Chiefs about to be 1st team to not hold lead during first 8 games of season since 1929 Bisons, who folded after season

And yes, I am the genius who picked the Chiefs to win the AFC West in SI this year. That's why they pay me the big bucks.

Matt Cassel, who missed a week, now has more turnovers than every entire NFL team except for the #Chiefs and #Cowboys.
