The Houston Texans are in Detroit on Thanksgiving for the Lions' traditional holiday game.
The Dallas Cowboys aren't the only Texas team with the Thanksgiving spotlight this year, as the AFC-best Houston Texans are on the road to face the Detroit Lions' in their traditional early holiday game on Thursday.
The Lions (4-6) can't afford anymore losses and find themselves with fewer and fewer chances to stay afloat in the NFC playoff race, especially following a heartbreaking 24-20 loss to the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers this past weekend. The schedule is going to make it tough to find five or six more wins, with another date against the Packers looming following games against Houston and Indianapolis. The Lions then face the Cardinals, Falcons and Bears to close the year.
A win over Houston on the national-holiday stage could go a long way in boosting the Lions' hopes, but it won't be easy. The Texans (9-1) are the class of the AFC and are playing for home-field advantage. They're coming off a tougher-than-expected overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Thursday's game is the first of three straight road games for Houston.
