This time on a Shonn Greene fumble.
We've written about footballs trying to escape the field of play before. Their plight is well documented. The little bundle of pigskin may look unimposing and immobile, but it's just waiting for its chance to lull us all into a false sense of security and get away.
This time it took to the air, on a fumble by Shonn Greene.
The ball made it a pretty far distance, which is admirable for an inanimate object. On the next play, Shane Vereen took it a lot more yards in his arms to put the New England Patriots up 14-0 on the New York Jets.
If we're lucky, the ball will have another chance to take flight. One of these days the little bugger is going to make it all the way. A ball can dream, right? I know I'll be rooting for it.
