Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The NFL Network is reporting that Colin Kaepernick will start at quarterback on Sunday for the San Francisco 49ers.

It appears San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has made a decision about his Sunday starter at quarterback against the New Orleans Saints. Via Albert Breer of NFL Network:

Harbaugh had held off on naming a starter for Sunday's game throughout the holiday week. Kaepernick made his first career start last week against the Bears, due to starter Alex Smith's concussion. Kaepernick was impressive against a stout Chicago defense, completing 16 of 23 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns, with no turnovers.

Sunday's contest is a rematch of last year's NFC divisional playoff game, won 36-32 by the 49ers on Smith's 14-yard touchdown pass to tight end Vernon Davis with just nine seconds left. This year's incarnation of the Saints, after beginning the season 0-4, are making a strong playoff push and a win over the 49ers would bolster their cause.

Kickoff for Sunday's game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
