Marques Colston injury: Receiver leaves game with apparent head injury

Andy Lyons

The Saints are without their top receiver as Marques Colston leaves the field.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston left Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers with an apparent head injury.

While running a route over the middle, defensive back Dashon Goldson was making a play on the ball and undercut Colston who was in the air attempting to make a catch. He was turned badly, and hit the turf on his head. The receiver popped up quickly, and was able to leave the field under his own power, however he was quickly escorted to the locker room for further evaluation. There have been no updates from New Orleans.

With just over ten minutes remaining in the third quarter, Colston was having a successful game. Despite having just 28 yards receiving, he caught a critical second quarter touchdown that kept the Saints in the hunt. Drew Brees is having problems with the 49ers' defense, throwing two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. Now with his No. 1 receiver out, Brees' day doesn't look to be getting any better.
