The Packers kicker picked up where he left off last week. Still, we have one question for the Packers.
Mason Crosby has struggled recently. The Green Bay Packers kicker made things far closer than they should have been last week against Detroit when he missed two of three field goals. Mike McCarthy stood by his man, tough, and turned to him for a 55-yard attempt on Sunday night.
Crosby's kick turned out exactly as you would have expected.
McCarthy's faith in his kicker is not so unusual, but turning to the struggling leg in the first quarter with a 7-7 tie against the New York Giants for such a long field goal attempt is a curious decision to say the least. There was plenty of time left, the Packers offense is, well, the Packers offense. The Giants got the ball back with pretty good field position as a result.
Crosby has now missed eight of his last 14 field goal attempts, five of his last eight. If that keeps up, McCarthy might not be able to stand by his man any longer.
