Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

Jackson is being called doubtful to return.

The Philadelphia Eagles are already missing their starting quarterback Michael Vick and best offensive player in running back LeSean McCoy heading into Monday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

You can now add another one of the top offensive players to the injury report. DeSean Jackson went down with what the Eagles are calling a sternum injury. He is doubtful to return.

It's not clear which play caused the injury.

He exited the game in the first half to take x-rays in the locker room. Though the x-rays were negative, the Eagles are saying he is doubtful to return to Monday's game against the Panthers. The Eagles lead the Panthers, 15-14.

Jackson has 44 receptions for 691 yards and two receiving touchdowns on the season.

From a playoff perspective, the Eagles season is essentially over, so there's no reason to push Jackson back into the game if he is hurt.
