The 49ers' former starter at quarterback isn't too happy with his demotion. He recently spoke with the media about the decision.
It's been a rough couple of weeks for 49ers quarterback Alex Smith. He was the starting QB on a team many viewed to be the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season. Following a concussion and an impressive performance from former backup Colin Kaepernick, Smith has since lost his job in San Francisco. And he isn't too happy about it.
As this video from CSN Bay Area shows, Smith said of his demotion, "It sucks. I don't know what else to say."
According to Smith, head coach Jim Harbaugh told both quarterbacks of his decision together. It was a pretty big surprise to see Harbaugh go with the young up-and-comer instead of the veteran that had led the team to so many wins, although there is no denying Kaepernick is capable of doing a few things on the field that Smith is unable to do.
