Some bad clock management may come back to haunt the Saints.
The Saints were knocking on the door with a chance to make it a 14-17 game as the clock wound down in the half. Somewhere along the way Brees decided to get in touch with his inner Andy Reid when it came time for some critical clock management at the end of the second quarter.
Brees then spiked the ball right on third-and-5, but the clock was already at zero. See for yourself:
The Saints even huddled before that play, burning up just a little more time.
The two plays before that, after Darren Sproles' touchdown was nullified by a Jimmy Graham interference penalty, Brees threw the ball down the middle to Sproles twice, but none of those were shots into the end zone. That series is going to comeback to haunt Brees and the Saints if they end up losing this game, which seems even more likely after all that.
The reaction from this fan kind of explains it all, no?
I don't know either.
