Redskins leather replica helmets are kind of awesome

Throwback uniforms are always a nice treat (see how I got Halloween in there? #strat). Whether it's the San Diego powder blues, those dirty Tampa Bay Creamsicles or the Cleveland Browns – oh wait, every week is a throwback uniform for the Browns – there's something nostalgic and special about uniform changes.

So count me in as fully on board with the Washington Redskins' choice to go old school with their unis today.

Those leather replicas are especially great. Honestly, I like these uniforms more than Washington's usual home offerings. The colors are indicative of winning Redskins football and just look classic and crisp. The wine (or is that maroon, I'm bad with colors) and gold are a much better combo than the red and yellow.

Now if only they could find a way to bring leather helmets back and still make them with safety in mind. That's a throwback option I would love to see if they could make it work.
