Patriots' Brandon Bolden suspended 4 games

Stew Milne-US PRESSWIRE

Patriots RB Brandon Bolden will miss the team's next four games after being suspended by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The National Football League has suspended New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden four games without pay after the rookie was found violating the league's substance abuse policy, the team announced Friday afternoon.

Bolden will begin serving the suspension immediately, according to the team, and will be eligible to return to action after the Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Despite his inexperience, Bolden, 22, has given New England some production that isn't bad for a rookie. In six games this season (zero starts), Bolden has rushed for 234 yards and two touchdowns out of the backfield on just 43 carries, while picking up an additional 11 yards of offense in the passing game as a receiver.

The Ole Miss product has not seen action since the Week 6 game against the Seattle Seahawks, and now the rookie running back will be unable to play until Week 14 against the Houston Texans.
