The Cowboys' defensive tackle is charged with intoxicated manslaughter after a car accident that killed linebacker Jerry Brown.
Less than a week after a car accident allegedly caused by an impaired Josh Brent took the life of Cowboys linebacker Jerry Brown, the family of Brown has evidently elected to forgive the Cowboys defensive tackle. ESPN's Ed Werder reports they have asked Brent to meet them at the airport and sit with them during the memorial service.
Brent, 24, reportedly failed a sobriety test after the crash and now faces charges of intoxicated manslaughter. If convicted, he would face two to 20 years in prison.
Both Brown and Brent played football at the University of Illinois before reuniting as members of the Cowboys. Prior to his time on the Cowboys practice squad, Brown had been a member of the Indianapolis Colts, seeing time in just one NFL game.
Brent had taken over as the starting nose tackle in the place of Jay Ratliff during the 2012 season, recording 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 12 games and five starts.
