The Dallas Cowboys will clear defensive tackle Josh Brent's roster spot, but the team will still give him access to the team's facilities, according to a report.

The Dallas Cowboys will clear defensive tackle Josh Brent's roster spot, according to a report from ESPN.com's Ed Werder.

According to Werder, the Cowboys will place Brent on the non-football injury/illness list, which lets the Cowboys replace Brent on their 53-man roster. The move also allows Brent the opportunity to access the team's facilities and receive support from the Cowboys organization.

Brent was arrested by the Irving Police Department on Saturday, Dec. 8 for intoxication manslaughter after he was involved in a single-car accident in the early hours of the morning. Cowboys practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown Jr. died due to the injuries suffered when Brent's vehicle flipped after hitting a curb.

Intoxication manslaughter is a second-degree felony in the state of Texas, and if convicted, Brent could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Brent was released from jail Sunday afternoon after he posted a $500,000 bond.
