Trends can be important handicapping stats or strange statistical anomalies and sometimes they are both things at the same time. So when you encounter a streak like the New York Giants winning seven straight at Atlanta but experience a conflicting streak like the Falcons being 10-0 SU at home, what do you do?
For starters, you check the point spread. Second, you watch for line moves. Third, you keep digging.
Week 15 betting trends see a slew of one-sided streaks and angles, starting Thursday with the Bengals at Philly. These teams have met eight times since 1980 and the Eagles have never turned a profit (0-8 ATS). [ See dozens of Week 15 NFL trends ]
When the Vikings visit the Rams, do you read more into the Vikings road winless streak or the Rams winless streak as a favorite?
What about all those trends pointing to Green Bay's victory at Chicago? The picks computer doesn't buy it, but maybe we should.
Denver struggles mightily against the Ravens historically, but they have won nine straight as a favorite. And the Ravens are a disaster as an underdog and have also struggled at home against the spread.
Tampa almost always covers the spread in New Orleans (7-2 ATS past 9) and the Patriots always win at home in December (21-0 SU).
The Cardinals have lost nine straight, but face a Lions team that has only covered the spread twice in 12 road games.
Good luck sorting through all that while you check out more trends below.
