Amendola wanted to celebrate. Unfortunately, he spiked the ball a little too close to where a security guard was standing.
Danny Amendola wanted to celebrate with a spike, and unfortunately it didn't go quite to plan. It has been a frustrating day for the St. Louis Rams, and when Amendola caught a six-yard pass to help make the score respectable, he wanted to vent those frustrations.
Spikes can go all manner of ways. Whether it's a failed jump spike, or the ball slipping out of a player's hand we've seen a lot of variations on a rather simple slamming of the football with force. This is a rare breed of spike that found its way to the security guard's head, striking him with such ferocity that the security guard needed to leave the field.
