Minnesota's running back is looking to make history.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is one step closer to achieving a lofty goal after running for more than 200 yards against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

Eyeing Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record, Peterson now needs just under 300 rushing yards to eclipse the 2,105 rushing yard mark. Given that Peterson has shown no signs of slowing down, there's a good chance we could see a new record holder.

It remains to be seen what postseason award the Vikings' running back will add to his shelf. Peterson remains in-step with Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning for the comeback player of the year, but there's also a reasonable chance he could be contending for either the offensive player of the year or MVP -- especially if he's able to break Dickerson's record.

Peterson ran for over eight yards per carry on Sunday and posted his eighth consecutive 100+ yard game. Keep an eye on him, because you might witness history.
