The Colts and Lions battle in cross-conference play.
Sunday's game between the Detroit Lions (4-7) and the Indianapolis Colts (7-4) features two teams battling for playoff position, though at very different levels. The Lions find themselves clinging for dear life in the NFC, while the Colts can continue to solidify their position in the AFC.
After their heartbreaking Thanksgiving Day loss to the Houston Texans, the Detroit Lions cannot afford to drop another game if they are going to have any shot at making the NFC playoffs. Even from there, they will need a great deal of help to return to the playoffs for the second straight year. A winning run, if it happens, will have to start on Sunday against a Colts team that has found its groove under quarterback Andrew Luck.
The Colts, meanwhile, have won five of their last six games, with that one loss coming on the road to the New England Patriots. That streak has included road wins in Tennessee and Jacksonville, though the Colts have also fallen at Chicago and against the Jets this year.
