Mark L. Baer-US PRESSWIRE
As if anyone would be surprised, the Jets quarterback threw a pick on his first pass attempt against Arizona.
Mark Sanchez has been the butt of a lot of jokes (you know, because he runs into butts and stuff; wow, maybe the New York Post should hire me) this year, and usually I'm the type to give a guy the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe it's his personnel (the Jets are basically starting a coat tree as their No. 3 WR), maybe it's the coaching (Rex Ryan is almost assuredly out as head coach after this season), or maybe it's a lack of faith from Fireman Ed. Or more likely, maybe Mark Sanchez is just a terrible quarterback.
Sanchez threw a pick on his first throw of the day to former NYJ safety Kerry Rhodes, who you remember as being called a "Hollywood type" by Rex Ryan. And it wasn't even close. The throw had no chance of getting to the receiver. Sanchez threw off his back foot and didn't appear to even notice the white jersey in the middle of the field.
But the Jets don't have a capable backup, so Sanchez will just keep being trotted out there, signing his endorsement deals for being so handsome and throwing picks.
