The New York Jets appear willing to let quarterback Tim Tebow leave the team at the end of the season, according to reports. How frustrated is Tebow with his current role on the team?

Quarterback Tim Tebow's time with the New York Jets could be numbered after he was passed over for the starting quarterback job by reserve quarterback Greg McElroy. League sources indicate that the Jets plan to part ways with Tebow after the season is over.

Tebow, who has clearly been frustrated with his role on the Jets this season, spoke of the team in the past tense on Wednesday. Having only played 70 offensive snaps with the teams this season, Tebow appeared at a loss as to why the Jets traded for him in the first place:

"Obviously, I'm a little disappointed ... All you can ask for, all you want is a chance -- a chance to go out and play the game you love and help this team win football games," he said. "That's all I wanted. I tried to make the most of every opportunity I had. I would've loved to have had more."

Jets head coach Rex Ryan had originally planned to use Tebow in a Wildcat package. However, he acknowledged on Wednesday, insisting that Tebow's trade was not forced on him by ownership, that things had not worked out as they had hoped:

"For some reason, it hasn't panned out to my expectations -- and maybe not Tim's, either," said Ryan.

The Jets finish up the 2012 season with games against the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills.
