The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers meet as the two teams are not only peaking this season, but looking to flex their muscle against a division rival. That can only mean predictions could go either way.
The scheduling folks at the NFL got gifts from both the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers in the past few weeks. Seattle has outscored opponents by a combined 91 points in the past two games, and San Francisco is coming off a huge road win in New England.
The two NFC West teams are rolling behind defensive swagger and recently improving quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick. Monday night's matchup could really go either way.
But as good as Seattle is playing, it's hard to bet against the 49ers. SB Nation's Joel Thorman has Jim Harbaugh's squad pulling out a 30-24 win and without the opportunity to run up the score. Sports Illustrated's Peter King agrees, and he predicts that Kaepernick's arm gives a 27-20 edge in favor of San Francisco.
At Yahoo!, Mike Silver and Les Carpenter believe the Seahawks will pull out an upset, though fellow writer Jason Cole disagrees. And of eight NFL experts at CBS Sports, five pick Pete Carroll's team to win straight up.
