Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware left the field in obvious pain with a right shoulder strain, ending up on his knees on the sideline, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.
Werder added that it is the same right shoulder that has frequently dislocated in the past for Ware and that his return to the game is questionable. Ware came into the game as probable with an elbow injury.
The Cowboys are currently trailing the New Orleans Saints, 31-17, early in the 4th quarter and could use Ware's services as they try to derail a Saints offense that is currently clicking on all cylinders. Ware's pressure off the edge is key to the Cowboys' defense and without him, they'll have to figure out other ways to try to get to Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
The Cowboys are in a four-way tie at 8-6 in the NFC playoff race but due to tiebreakers, they are not currently a playoff team. Losing Ware and this game will be two blows the Cowboys may not be able to recover from.
