The AFC playoff picture was solidified on Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals both clinched playoff spots. The seeding has not been set, but those are the six teams that will make up those seeds.
The Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, and New England Patriots are all still vying for home field advantage and a first round bye. The Texans can clinch a first round bye with a win against the Colts next week, but could very easily end up missing out on a first round bye if they lose.
The Bengals clinched their return to the playoffs by defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-10. Cincinnati could still wind up winning the AFC North, but they need the Ravens to slip up in order to do so. The loss eliminated the Steelers from postseason contention.
The Colts' march back to the playoffs is one of the most inspiring runs in recent memory, capped off by their 23-10 win over Kansas City. They made it back to the playoffs, despite head coach Chuck Pagano battling leukemia. Good news abounds, however, as Pagano is set to return as coach this upcoming week.
