Seahawks safety Cam Chancellor's hard hit has sidelined Vernon Davis for the night.

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis left the 49ers' Sunday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks with a head injury will not return to the primetime game after suffering a concussion.

Davis left the game after being hit hard by Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor. He was immediately taken to the locker room where he was evaluated for a head injury, and was questionable for return until he was ruled out for the rest of the game in the minutes after suffering the injury.

Early in the second quarter, the 49ers are trailing, 21-0 in the Week 16 matchup. When he left, Davis was leading the 49ers in receiving yards with 27 yards on one reception. Davis had caught one of Colin Kaepernick's four completions as the quarterback is struggling early.

Davis had caught 39 passes before tonight's game for 516 yards and five touchdowns, but had recorded just one reception in the two previous games the 49ers had played, against the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.
