Heath Miller injury: Steelers TE finished for season with torn ACL, MCL

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh tight end Heath Miller suffered a torn ACL and MCL on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller will miss the season finale and the foreseeable future after tearing his ACL and MCL on Sunday against Cincinnati.

Initial reports were Miller suffered damage to only his PCL and MCL, but further evaluations revealed the ACL tear. Miller suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game and needed to be helped off the field. He had a career season in 2012, but will now likely miss the entire offseason program and his status for the start of the 2013 season is very much in doubt.

The 30-year-old Miller set career highs this season in receiving yards with 816 and touchdowns with eight. His 71 receptions led the Steelers and are just five shy of the 76 passes he caught in 2009. Miller was targeted 101 times this season, the third-most of any Pittsburgh receiver trailing just Mike Wallace's 119 targets and Antonio Brown's 102 targets.

Sunday's season finale will be the first game Miller has missed since Week 15 of the 2010 season.
