The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been around since 1976. Josh Freeman has only been Tampa's starting quarterback since around the middle of the 2009 season. However, it only took 56 starts for Freeman to become the franchise's leader in career touchdown passes. This is the moment that you remember that in over 35 years, Freeman really is the best they've ever had at the position!
Freeman passed Vinny Testaverde when he threw his 78th career touchdown pass on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Testaverde, whom the Bucs took with the top overall pick in 1987, spent six seasons in Tampa Bay, throwing 77 touchdowns and 112 interceptions in 76 games. After going through quarterbacks like Doug Williams, Testaverde and Trent Dilfer for much of their franchise history, Freeman truly becomes the first player at the position for Tampa that is both good and not anywhere close to retirement.
Freeman has a career-high 27 touchdown passes this season, also a franchise record, previously held by Brad Johnson.
Josh Freeman: So much better than previous Buccaneers quarterbacks that it's not even funny. Well, it's kinda funny.
