Recently fired Biffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey gave a brief statement on Monday, thanking the organization and fans.

Shortly after being relieved of his head coaching duties by the Buffalo Bills, former head coach Chan Gailey made a brief statement to the media in which he thanked the team and fans. Gailey was fired after three seasons at the helm in Buffalo.

"The first thing I want to say is thanks to the Bills organization, to Buddy (Nix) and Mr. Wilson for the opportunity," Gailey said. "I understand this is a business. We didn't get the job done. I've been called two other times to turn things around, was able to do it. I wasn't able to get this one done soon enough, and I understand that completely."

Buffalo finished the 2012 season with a 6-10 record. Over Gailey's three-year tenure in Buffalo, the Bills went 16-32 and never won more than six games in a season.

"I want to thank the fans. Great Buffalo fans, a great football town. These are loyal, loyal fans and I understand that," Bailey added. "I think that the next staff will have a great opportunity for success and to make this another great football franchise."

Buffalo closed out the season with a 28-9 victory on Sunday over the New York Jets, but finished in last place in the AFC East.
