Ben Roethlisberger had a positive day throwing the ball at practice on Wednesday, according to Mike Tomlin.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger appears close to returning for Pittsburgh's Week 14 game against the San Diego Chargers. Head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that Roethlisberger "made all the necessary throws" in practice on Wednesday as he works his way back for the Steelers final four-game stretch run. Tomlin also characterized the practice as a "positive day" and a "good step," comments that portend a return this Sunday.
Roethlisberger has missed the past three games with a shoulder and rib injury suffered in a Week 10 win over the Chiefs.
Pittsburgh pulled off a dramatic three-point win over the rival Ravens on Sunday, halting an ugly two-game losing skid without Roethlisberger. Charlie Batch was more than serviceable in the win, but the Steelers need Big Ben back as soon as possible as they make their final push for a playoff spot (and potential division title).
The Steelers have a favorable schedule in that pursuit of the postseason, finishing with three of their last four games at Heinz Field -- beginning with slumping San Diego this Sunday.
