US PRESSWIRE
The computer says OVER, but the Giants-Saints betting odds and trends say this Week 14 game could go UNDER. It's a must-win spot for each team and a bounce back game for the Giants.
The New York Giants will try to snap an 0-3 SU and ATS streak against the New Orleans Saints when they host the Saints this Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
New York was a 5-point home underdog as of Friday at most shops tracked bby OddsShark.com and the computer prediction of 32-25 would be more than enough for Giant bettors to cash their tickets.
Is there trouble in the Big Apple for the defending champions? After a resounding 38-10 win over Green Bay two weeks ago, many thought that the Giants were back on track after losing their previous two games.
But with New York's 17-16 loss to Washington on Monday night, the Giants are now just 1-3 SU and ATS over their last four games and are only one game ahead of Washington and Dallas (both 6-6 SU) in the NFC East.
New Orleans appeared to be making an improbable push towards a playoff spot with a 5-1 SU and ATS run that started up in October, but with two straight losses (0-2 ATS) the Saints' playoff hopes have severely dwindled.
In last Thursday's 23-13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Drew Brees threw five interceptions and saw his consecutive games with a touchdown pass streak come to an end at 54 games. Brees will look to start up a new streak Sunday.
Not only are the Saints 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five games against the Giants (including a current 3-0 SU and ATS streak), all four wins weren't even close. New Orleans has beaten New York by at least three touchdowns in all four games including a 49-24 win last season in New Orleans.
Can the Saints continue to torment the Giants this week? The line has remained steady at -5, according to the NFL odds menu at most lines tracking sites.
We don't think so. As worrisome as the Giants' current slump may be to fans and bettors alike, all three losses (to Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Washington) came against teams that were red hot entering the game.
New Orleans enters this game dejected on a two-game losing streak, and at home and with a far-superior defense the Giants should be able to end their recent skid against the Saints.
